Our newly hatched CEO!

Dr. Tobias Gerfin (48) has been Chairman of the Board (CEO) of the internationally active company Kuhn Rikon AG since 16th October 2013.

He studied chemistry at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), graduating with a doctorate. Before joining the company, he was employed in various functions for renowned Groups such as Giroflex AG, a Swiss office chair manufacturer, and as Managing Director of Glas Trösch Intérieur.


But for all passionate chefs amongst our customers, we’re now far more interested in finding out how he performs in the kitchen:

INTERVIEW
  • Let’s be honest: who’s the better cook, you or your wife?
    I love cooking, and my wife isn’t so fond of it, so I’m usually the one who cooks at home. I’m probably better at starters and main courses, but she’s definitely better at making desserts.
     
  • What was your worst ever booby in the kitchen?
    Once, when cooking an evening meal for my future mother-in-law and her mother, I was just adding the final touches to the seasoning, and the entire glass of curry plus lid fell into the sauce. We ended up eating a quick white wine sauce with the fish.
     
  • Who would you most like to cook a menu with?
    Eckart Witzigmann. Who wouldn’t enjoy cooking with a chef of the century for once!

  • If you had to choose, which three Kuhn Rikon products would you take with you to a desert island?
    A Colori chef’s knife with a knife sharpener, and a hotpan casserole, so fish and vegetables turn out perfectly.
     
  • What do you associate with the brand Kuhn Rikon?
    High quality and functional products which are a joy to use in the kitchen.
     
  • In your opinion, what kitchen aid still needs to be invented?
    No more aids need to be invented, because people are already able to conjure up so much in kitchens all around the world. But I’m sure we’ll have lots of new ideas for additions and things to make life easier.
