Privacy Policy

Data protection policy

Thank you for your interest in our website. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read here for more information on how we handle your data.

We do not collect the personal details (name, address etc) of users visiting our website. However, every time a user accesses a page from our Kuhn Rikon AG internet presence, and every time they download a file, data pertaining to these actions is recorded in a log file. Here, we explain what happens to this data and describe the safety mechanisms we have adopted to protect your data.

The following data is recorded every time you call up our website:

  • the name of the file you called up,
  • the date and time you called up the file,
  • the volume of data transmitted,
  • the page from which you were referred (referrer URL),
  • which pages you visit on our website,
  • access status (e.g., file transmitted, file not found etc),
  • the browser and operating system you used,
  • the name of your service provider,
  • the complete IP address of the computer used for access,
  • notification of whether or not the access was successful.
We store this data for security reasons, most particularly in order to protect our server against attacks. Within seven days, this data is anonymised by shortening the IP address to domain level. After this, it is no longer possible to link it to a specific individual. Data is used solely and exclusively for this purpose, and in anonymised form for statistical purposes. We do not channel this data into other data sources. After it has been statistically evaluated, data is deleted. This means your identity as user remains anonymous.

Collecting, processing and utilising personal details

If you provide us with any personal details (name, address, email address etc.) via our website – e.g., in connection with placing an order, claiming on the guarantee, registering for our newsletter or opening a customer account – the details you provide will be collected, processed and/or used for the stated purpose only.

This will be done in accordance with all relevant legal provisions and/or only with your consent. We keep a record of and store any consent you give us via our website (e.g., if you register for our email newsletter). You are welcome to ask us at any time about the nature/scope of the consent you have given us. To do so, please contact our data protection officer via email at: legal@kuhnrikon.ch.

We will only collect, process and/or use your data for market research, advisory services and/or advertising purposes if you have given us your prior consent to do so. If you no longer wish your data to be processed or used for advertising or marketing purposes, please notify Kuhn Rikon AG (Neschwilerstrasse 5, CH-8486 Rikon, or kuhnrikon@kuhnrikon.ch). As soon as we receive your objection, we will cease to use the data in question for marketing purposes and will immediately stop sending you advertising material. Data which is needed for accounting or invoicing in connection with an incomplete order remains unaffected by such an objection.

Specific use of data

Any personal details which you share with us online will be collected, processed and/or used only for the stated purpose, and only in accordance with the relevant legal provisions and/or your consent. Please note that you are welcome to withdraw your consent at any time.

In general, we will use your personal details to respond to your inquiries or to process your orders. If you use an online form on our website, your personal details will be sent automatically via email to the member of staff responsible for dealing with the form in question. In order to deal with your enquiry, your details may be passed on to the relevant member of staff in Kuhn Rikon. We will not pass on your personal details, nor any part thereof, to a third party unless legally required to do so or unless you have given us your express consent to do so. If we use an external service provider* (shipping company, logistics company, bank) to process your order, the contractual relationships arising therefrom will be in accordance with all relevant legal requirements.

Your rights

You have a legal right to know which of your personal details we have stored. You also have a legal right to demand that any errors in your personal details are corrected, or that your personal details be blocked or deleted.

Email advertising (with newsletter registration)

If, apart from the general newsletter, you subscribe to our newsletters in a specific product area, we will use your email address for our own marketing purposes within the product area in question until you unsubscribe. You are free to unsubscribe at any time without incurring any costs over and above your basic internet access charges. If you no longer wish to receive our newsletter or our promotional emails, please click on the link “unsubscribe”. You will find this link at the bottom of every email sent by Kuhn Rikon AG.

Links to other service providers

Our website includes links to the website of other companies. These are clearly indicated as such. We have no influence over the content of the linked websites of other service providers. For this reason, we cannot accept responsibility or liability for the content of these sites. The service provider in question is responsible for the content of their website. Content was checked for possible or recognisable legal violations before the link was created. No such violations were discernible when the link was created. However, it is not possible to permanently control the content of links for legal violations without specific evidence. As soon as we become aware of any legal violation, we will remove the links in question immediately.

Security

Generally speaking, the Internet is not regarded as a secure medium. If you send us information unencrypted via email, it is theoretically possible that a third party could read it during transmission. For this reason, email is not a legally secure form of communication. We have installed spam filters to combat unsolicited advertising. Sometimes, these filters erroneously classify normal emails as spam and delete them automatically. If an email contains malware (a virus), it will also be automatically deleted by us.

If you want to send us sensitive data such as payment details, we recommend you send it in encrypted form, adding where possible your electronic signature. This will prevent unauthorised persons from reading or falsifying your data during transmission. Alternatively, you can send us such data in an ordinary mail by post.

We have taken various technological and organisational steps to protect the personal details of our customers, employees and/or suppliers against unauthorised access, damage, loss, destruction and/or manipulation. We check and update these measures at regular intervals. Please keep your log-in details strictly confidential and close your browser window whenever you have finished communicating with us, particularly if you share your computer with others.

To make communication with you as confidential as possible, we use SSL (Secure Socket Layers) encryption in the “my account”, registration and check-out areas. SSL is supported by all conventional browsers.

Use of cookies

We use so-called cookies on our website. Cookies are small files which are stored on your computer and which save specific settings and details about your browser to share with our system. Saving these settings and details helps us tailor the website to your needs and make it easier for you to use, e.g., by saving certain entries you make so that you do not have to enter them repeatedly. Cookies also enable us to gauge the efficacy of particular advertisements and place these in accordance with user interests. Cookies do not harm your computer and do not contain any viruses.

We use two types of cookies: “session cookies” and “persistent cookies”. Session cookies are temporary cookies which are automatically deleted from your hard drive when you close your browser. These cookies are necessary in order for the online shop to function properly.

These persistent cookies will be automatically deleted by your computer after a certain period of time. You can also delete them automatically before this period expires.

Most browsers accept cookies automatically. However, you can change the settings in your browser if you would prefer not to send the information. If you do so, you will still be able to use all the services on our website unrestrictedly (exception: configurations) or: If you do so, you will no longer be able to use all the services on our website unrestrictedly. For example, you will not be able to place any orders. You are free to choose the extent to which your browser accepts cookies. Thus if you are located in a member state of the European Union, or another state which is party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, your IP address will first be abridged by Google. Google uses this information by order of the operator of this website to analyse your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide the operator of this website with further services connected with the use of this website and the Internet. The IP address identified on your browser by Google Analytics is not connected to other Google data. You are at liberty to prevent cookies from being stored by adjusting your browser software accordingly.
